Poison & Wine

the civil wars

new song alert. thank you to my musical aficionado, abianne lee miller. and I actually am not sure if this song is really new. BUT. it is so good. I don't think I have ever heard a song that better captures what william blake wrote: "we are here to learn to endure the beams of love." it is hard, it is messy, it hurts, it begs forgiveness, but it's love. and we endure it. and we learn to give it. it shapes us and breaks us. it encourages, gives, and frees us. We stand up under its beams.

I don't have a choice, but I still choose you.

  1. Care... This paragraph is fabulous. Thank you, Sweetie. Never heard the Blake quote before. You write beautifully. Makes me think of something I heard about Mother Theresa. One time a brother in a men's companion order to the Sisters of Charity came to MT to complain: "Mother, I've got so many burdens. The gov't makes me do all this paperwork. My superior in the order is not being fair to me. I can't get done what I'm supposed to." MT said, "Brother, what is your calling?" He said, "to care for the poor." MT: "Oh no, Brother, that is not your calling. Your calling to to know how much you are loved by Jesus and then to give to others the overflow of that love.
    Love you, Care Bear,
    Dad
