Happy Day

I am getting married to the most wonderful man in the world. Seriously. I am not lying. I know I'm biased, but it's true! Michael proposed last Sunday at sunrise, and I said oui, si, of course, yes, hands down, no doubt, YES! Actually, I just said yes, but inside it was all of those things.

Here I am smirking at the camera. Not sure why. But this was at Michael's ring ceremony for his team winning the 2010 lacrosse national championship. Two words: Stud muffin. Michael received that blingin ring that you can see on his finger -- little did I know that I'd be getting a beautiful ring myself a few months later.

Mmmm I reread what I just wrote. Sounds like total CHEESE. Oh well.

I am so happy.

Let me tell you what -- Sarah and Steve Schoeffel did an amazing job helping Michael plan and set up the proposal. They are true and faithful friends, and I am so grateful for them for so many reasons! Abigail also gets big props because she did a fantastic job making me beleive that Michael wasn't going to propose for at least another week or two. And this was Abs! My sweet friend who flips out about love. Both Michael's and my parents came in for the proposal -- another sweet treat of the day.

I am so happy. Slash. I have no idea what the heck I am doing planning a wedding. This just is not my cup of tea! But carpe diem! I have less than 5 months to get ready to wed. My logical/rational/practical self really would love to just skip to the honeymoon (yes, I just said that) and to life in DC as we settle down, but alas, there is much to be done! I think the wedding is going to be "Pride and Prejudice" meets "Town&Country" themed -- meaning an elegant venue, but I'm not exactly elegant, so I'm thinking sunflowers and mason jars, not roses and lace. That sort of thing. baaa ahh haha I again don't know what I just said. This is going to be fun(ny.)

Dallas Snow Days

Dallas is currently thawing out from three days under ice. And just when it was starting to melt, lo and behold, it snowed five inches there today! People are going crazy, not only because school and work has been out for four days (awesome) but also because of the Super Bowl this Sunday and the apparent lack of drivability.

The last time I can remember major shut-downs for ice and snow in Dallas was during my junior year of high school. We had two days off from school, and seriously, I think it is one of my favorite memories of life.

Sorry yall, the frame broke last year when it fell from the wall during a dance party (this is no lie,) but I love this picture! Avery, Leighton, Beth, Amanda, yours truly, and Virginia.

I love snow days. See this post if you need a refresher from last year in DC during Snowmageddon 2k10. It was the craziest time, but also the best. I'm glad that my Dallas loves are getting a taste of it.

Text Love

You know it's a good day when all the text messages that can fit on one screen are from your five beloved roomies.

Poison & Wine

the civil wars

new song alert. thank you to my musical aficionado, abianne lee miller. and I actually am not sure if this song is really new. BUT. it is so good. I don't think I have ever heard a song that better captures what william blake wrote: "we are here to learn to endure the beams of love." it is hard, it is messy, it hurts, it begs forgiveness, but it's love. and we endure it. and we learn to give it. it shapes us and breaks us. it encourages, gives, and frees us. We stand up under its beams.

I don't have a choice, but I still choose you.
